Biography:

Jim Folk suffered with anxiety disorder including debilitating panic attacks, from 1974 to 1986. During those 12 years, he had undergone countless tests; sought the help of numerous medical and mental health professionals; traveled to a clinic in Mexicali, Mexico; had been prescribed numerous medications; tried herbs, vitamins, diets, alternative therapies; and a host of other treatments in an attempt to regain his normal health.

In the summer of 1985, Jim came in contact with a psychologist who understood anxiety. Jim’s personal experience with anxiety and his comprehensive research, coupled with the psychologist’s reassurances, helped Jim to turn his condition around. In 1986, Jim stopped all medication and in 1987, he regained his normal health.

Jim continues to enjoy normal and medication-free health today (over 21 years).

In 1989, Jim began working with others who were experiencing panic and anxiety disorders. In 1992, he wrote the book “Recovering from Panic Attacks,” and in 1996, he developed the Web site www.panicattack-help.com.

Today, in addition to Jim’s role as president of anxietycentre.com, he offers personal coaching services to individuals and small groups from around the world, leads anxiety disorder support groups in the Calgary area, and is a public speaker that presents to corporations and organizations, and at conferences and seminars.

As an entrepreneur, Jim, the companies he’s founded, and the projects they have participated in, have won hundreds of awards including 7 Gemini Award Nominations, 3 Saskatchewan Showcase Awards, and a coveted Golden Sheaf Award.

Jim has experience in coaching individuals suffering from various forms of anxiety (Social Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, phobias), stress, depression, interpersonal relationship problems (boundaries, self-esteem), anger issues, and physical/emotional/sexual/spiritual abuse.

Jim and Marilyn Folk currently live in Calgary, Canada, and attend Centre Street Church.

  1. I am happy to see (former) sufferers help people. I feel no one could be as successful restored person in helping suffering people.
I also have similar experience and I liberated myself after long suffering. Now I wrote two books (named Sine Aemiro and Kechinket netsa Yemehon Tibeb) in local language in Ethiopia Amharic. May people are calling me saying you picked me out of dark prison.
I like to know more and to share your experience in serving people in anxiety.
    Best regards
